Biodiversity of the population and the pattern of the variation in the ecosystem function on the marine organisms in warm temperate coast
Site Outline
This site is located at eastern end of Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture, central Honshu (35o41’42”, 140o51’29”). The coastal site consists of various types of habitats, including algal and seagrass beds, rocky intertidal and subtidal bottoms, boulder shore and high energy sandy beach.. Known as sites where the warm Kuroshio and the cold Oyashio meet, this area is characterized by the co-occurrence of warm-water and cold-water derived marine organisms, and is known as the northern and southern distribution limits of many species.
